January 1, 2021Courtown Commuity Council places high prority on working ith Wexford County Council and Wexford Walking Trail to maintain and enhance our local walking trails
We value the interconnectivity and accessibility between Riverchapel and Courtown Harbour with an immensely beautiful proposed Natural Heritage Area on our doorstep.
Courtown - Kiltennel Trail
Wexford Walking Trail have done a marvellous job to rehabilitate this section of the Slí Charman Coastal Walkway, allowing walkers to safely travel from Courtown all the way to Kiltennel without having to use the public roadway.
Courtown's combination of semi-native, mixed woodland running adjacent to the sandy coastline is very rare and it provides a pleasurable and healthy experience for individuals and families of all ages to escape and reset from our busy lives.
Maritime Heritage Walk
CCC is excited to have received notification of a successful Town & Village Renewal Scheme Application. €100,000 has been granted under the scheme for enhancements to the existing walkway linking Riverchapel and Courtown with additional outdoor seating and picnic areas. COVID-19 has resulted in a rise in people exploring their locality on foot. We are pleased to know that additional infrastructure will be put in place to support people of all ages and abilities to enjoy leisure in this area. Riverchapel has seen a boom in population in recent years and we recognise the importance of interconnectivity between all our outdoor amenities.
CCC collected supporting letters from fourteen local organisations that represent a vast array of interests in our area. We are very grateful to Wexford County Council for their ongoing support of our efforts in the area.
